SSPC National Awards 2010

Congratulations to the winners from the SSPC 2010 National Awards which took place at the SSPC Annual Conference in Crieff. Winners are as follows:

  • First time presenter/upcoming student researcher

    Ms Kerri Greene, University of St Andrews - "Weight management - is the NHS helping people to help themselves".
  • Best Scientific Poster

    Lorna Paul, University of Glasgow - "Identifying the barriers to attendance at annual asthma review by children and their families"
  • Best Recruiting Practice

  • Sheila Grant, Practice Manager and Dr Elaine Cameron from Kingsway Medical Practice

    • Category 1 - Upcoming student researcher We will be assessing individuals that have been identified by their course leader to have demonstrated a excellent knowledge of primary care research through evidence of project assessment or primary care related essays throughout their undergraduate career

    • Category 2 - First Time Presenter
    • This award is for primary care clinician, academic or student who is pursuing a career in research and will be presenting for the first time at the SSPC conference. Candidates will be asked to present during the 1st day of the conference and assessed by the judges.

    • Category 3 - SSPC Research paper of the year
    • Judges will seek nominations from each HEI in SSPC for a Primary Care Research Paper which demonstrates scientific robustness and International relevance.

    • Category 4 - Best Recruiting Practice
    • With data provided by each node co-ordinator we will be celebrating the practice in Scotland that has recruited most patients to studies during 2009.

    • Category 5 - Best Scientific Poster
    • Delegates can vote for the best scientific poster during the conference. Voting slips will be available on the day and the winner will be announced at the closing plenary of the conference.
